If an aerosol can is totally empty and clean it can be placed in your kerbside yellow lidded recycle bin.
An aerosol can which still has contents in it is unable to be placed in either of your kerbside bins as if the trucks paddle compactor compresses the can an explosion or fire will occur causing a danger to the Driver. This is also the case if an aerosol can with its contents ends up on the Landfill face, the compactor that pushes the waste at the Landfill will also cause an explosion or fire if it connects with this aerosol tin.
The Yeppoon Landfill is not licenced under State Government legislation to accept this type of regulated waste. You will need to contact a regulated waste disposal company that deals with the disposal of solvents, paints and pesticides for an aerosol can that still has it's contents to be disposed of.
