You can now recycle your used, broken and unwanted fishing tackle at participating BCF stores and it’s very exciting that our own Yeppoon BCF is one of the ten chosen trial locations in Queensland. Your old lures, hooks, sinkers, swivels, jig heads, floats, line and line spools can all be recycled or given a new life by dropping them into the Rig Recycle bin near the cash registers at Yeppoon BCF.
OZFish will see what items can be up-cycled, repaired and re-used as gear for fishing charities and send the remainder to Tangaroa Blue for recycling to help keep the tackle out of our precious waterways, which accounts for 10 per cent of all ocean plastic pollution and also out of our Landfill. Recreational Fishers can now assist to reduce this problematic form of ocean pollution by discarding their used fishing tackle at Rig Recycle. The Rig Recycling program is a first for Australia, so we can be very proud this service is being offered by BCF in Yeppoon.
