Dialysis Equipment

Home dialysis equipment can contain hazardous items such as sharps and bodily fluids.

All sharps should always be kept secure and separate from other waste. Sharps pose a high risk to workers and community members and should NEVER be disposed of in ANY of your household bins, street bins, toilet bins or toilets or down drains. For correct disposal of sharps go to Needles and Syringes in this A-Z list.

Please dispose of bodily fluids in the toilet (septic system).

Plastic tubing and plastic waste bags (once empty) can be placed into the red or green lidded kerbside general waste bin.

Please do not place any dialysis equipment into the kerbside recycling bin as it cannot be recycled as it is a medical waste type.
