Fabric takes a very long time to breakdown. Quilts, blankets, etc. can be disposed of in your kerbside green or red lidded general waste bin but be aware these go direct to the Landfill and are buried in the ground.
If the Quilt, blanket is still useable have it cleaned and donate it to an Op Shop where a person who may need one can get one.
